2011 NAACP Image Awards Nominees in Movie

 The upcoming 42nd annual NAACP Image Awards are all about Tyler Perry. The nominations for the upcoming prize-giving show have been announced on January 12, and it was revealed that two of Perry's movies score 11 nominations in total.

"For Colored Girls" and "Why Did I Get Married Too?" nab 7 and 4 nods respectively, with both movies up against each other in Outstanding Motion Picture category.
The other contenders for the coveted prize are "Just Wright", "The Book of Eli" and "The Kids Are All Right".

The follow-up to the 2007 drama comedy has its lead star Janet Jackson competing for Outstanding Actress prize, which is also vied by Halle Berry ("Frankie and Alice"), Kerry Washington ("Night Catches Us"), Queen Latifah ("Just Wright") and Zoe Saldana ("The Losers").

Additionally, four "For Colored Girls" stars which are Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad and Whoopi Goldberg land Outstanding Supporting Actress nod. Meanwhile, the last place in the category goes to Jill Scott who stars in "Why Did I Get Married?" sequel.

In the Outstanding Supporting Actor category, "For Colored Girls" actor Michael Ealy appears as a contender alongside Don Cheadle ("Brooklyn's Finest"), Idris Elba ("Takers") and Samuel L. Jackson ("Mother and Child"). Justin Timberlake of "The Social Network" surprisingly is also recognized for this honor too.

Tyler Perry himself gets two nods for writing "Why Did I Get Married Too?" and directing "For Colored Girls".

Young star Jaden Smith also has a chance to take home a kudo from NAACP Image Award since his performance in "The Karate Kid" is honored with Outstanding Actor nod. He will face a tough competition for his rivals include vet actors like Denzel Washington ("The Book of Eli") and Morgan Freeman ("Red") in addition to Anthony Mackie ("Night Catches Us") and Common ("Just Wright").

Also announced by Kimberly Elisa, Sanaa Lathan, 50 Cent, Smokey Robinson, Columbus Short and Affion Crockett at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA on Wednesday are the nominations list in TV, music and literature. The winners will all be announced at a gala held on March 4 and aired live at 8 P.M. ET/PT on FOX.
