Box Office: 'True Grit' Outdoes 'Little Fockers' in Third Week

"True Grit" has shown a gritty performance and it results in a victory at North American Box Office. After standing still on the runner-up place since it was released in late December 2010, the movie finally outdoes "Little Fockers" on its third weekend with an estimated $15 million.

The drama, which is one of Oscar favorites, takes advantages from the quiet weekend.
It has been common knowledge that January is typically a dead zone for new films as moviegoers catch up on prospective Academy Awards contenders and the National Football League is about to kick off its playoffs.

Former two-week winner "Little Fockers" is now sitting on the second place with an estimated $13.8 million, making a total domestic revenue of $123.9 million so far. Nicolas Cage's "Season of the Witch" is the only newcomer entering the top ten, landing on number three with an approximately $10.7 million haul.

Sci-fi movie "Tron Legacy" drops to number four on its fourth weekend with an estimated $9.8 million. Another possible Oscar nominee "Black Swan" jets off from number nine to five with an additional $8.4 million cume.

Also making a huge leap this week is "Country Strong" which boasts Gwyneth Paltrow's musical performance. The drama jumps from number 43 to 6 and adds $7.3 million haul after opening in additional 1,422 theaters.
